Wimbledon Commission

In 2018 Katherine Huskie and Nancy Sutcliffe won the commission to produce glass to be on permanent display within the Club House at The All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon. They occupy a prestigious and highly visible position. They are placed in vitrines which are 1.6m high and located on the main staircase, the backs of which open onto the two passages leading to the Royal Box. This spectacular location means that the works will be seen by all the players and stars who pass through the Club.

They designed 2 complimentary artworks that would showcase Wimbledon’s rich history, visiting the site when it is closed to the public to get an all access experience, photographing the tiny details that are engraved and showcased in the artworks. They were also fortunate to visit centre court in 2018 and once the work was installed in 2019 they visited the royal box during some of most exciting tennis of the games.
